Golf and Covid: Managing Both

It’s time to PIVOT.

Golf might not be totally in your wheel house right now.

Understandable.

So let me share some tools to help you manage your world right now AND prepare you for the course when you get swinging again.

“Feed two birds with one scone” –  the PETA friendly version 🙂

Managing our Minds – On and Off the Golf Course

First…you want to reveal the problem.

Our brains are on high alert offering lots of thoughts.

Separate out what is fact from drama.

On the golf course, it might look like: My ball is in a divot, I hate this shot, I am going to hit it fat, This is going to be embarrassing, I have 105 yards to the hole.

In your life, it might look like: My kids are home, Life is a mess, I am so stressed, The world is scary right now, People are dying.

The bold italic sentences are facts. Your brain might want to argue hard about this right now…but stay with me.

Circumstances are always neutral.

We can’t control our circumstances but we can control our minds.

You can’t control that your ball is in a divot.

“People are dying” is a fact.  (and always has been)

Learn to differentiate what is a fact and what is drama.

The best way to do this is to write it down on a piece of paper.

Circle the facts…the rest are thoughts.

On the golf course it takes this skill to manage your thoughts and emotions about your game – the key to getting better results.

In life, it is the same.

Being able to observe your thoughts and separate them from facts is the start to taking control and creating the results you want.

Coaching

In a nutshell, I help people get out of their own damn way so they can go after and get the things they truly want.

Whether in the golf or in life, I believe how you do one thing you do everything.

And, sometimes your golf struggles have nothing at all to do with golf.

Let me share some tools to help you manage your world right now AND prepare you for the course when you get swinging again.
